Ashraf addresses the 2019 CalPoly SLO Fall Commencement

Instead of trying to find your passion, let your passion find you.

Stop trying to find your passion. Find your focus instead.

You should strive hard to develop your skills instead of finding your passion if you want to be happy in your current business.

Sometimes, it is better to figure out how you can help others instead of thinking about how you can help yourself. You can only do a small number of things in your life at a time.

Millions of people around the world have a fear of missing out commonly referred to as FOMO. Millions of people around the world have a fear of missing out commonly referred to as FOMO. They keep on chasing their passion with no avail. Instead of having this approach in your life, you need to concentrate on your work until you find your real focus.

Strive hard to get to the point in your life from where you can set on a journey towards something better, something much more rewarding and fulfilling than you currently have.

Against common perception, it does not have to be your passion.

It does not have to be something you want to accomplish in your life either.

Similarly, it should not be anything you want to achieve in your career.

You will only grow in your life and career if you focus on things that allow you to have a feeling of growth.

You are never going to grow if you are in a line of work you resent.

It will not allow you to go well beyond the line of duty and learn new skills and experiences.

You can enjoy better life only if you get rid of the work you don’t like.

Instead of consciously thinking about your passion, let your passion come to you. It’s somewhere inside of you, hiding because it’s afraid to expose itself.

Passion Project

"Find your passion." That statement suggests that your passion is something that exists out there in the world, if only you could find it.

There's another school of thought that says passion and interests are developed over time. These are two ideas "fixed theory" and "growth theory" of interests.

Intelligence isn't a fixed trait (despite the beliefs of people with a "fixed mindset"), and instead can be improved.
