Extra Mile: 1.01 vs 0.99^365 = 37.78343433 vs 0.025517964

Extra Mile:

How exponential growth in positive and negative attitude affects, same effect be noticed in good and bad habits.

0.99^365 = 0.025517964

1.01^365 = 37.78343433

0.95^365 = 0.000000007398027

1.05^365 = 54211841.58

Rule of 1.01

1.01 ^ 365 = 37.8

Everyday do a little bit more.

Rule of 0.99

0.99 ^ 365 = 0.03

Everyday do a little bit less.

The difference between 1.01 and 0.99 seems only 0.02.

The result would be a huge difference.

We Make 35,000 Choices Every Day
Researchers at Cornell University estimate we make 226.7 decisions each day on food alone. And as your level of responsibility increases, so does the multitude of choices you have to make. It’s estimated that the average adult makes about 35,000 remotely conscious decisions each day. Each decision, of course, carries certain consequences with it that are both good and bad.

We should always allow some time to elapse, for time discloses the truth.

Activities for instant gratification; social media, eating pizza, watching fun movie.

Generally, feels good – short term, negative – long term

Activities for delayed gratification; reading book, meditation, learning new skills, exercise, eating healthily

Generally, feels difficult, boring – short term, Positive – long term

Marshmallow test proves it.

Next is development of habits.

Domino effect; decision; purchase of TV on installment, $50 a month.

1st order consequences + 2nd + 3rd + 4th; Chain reaction = Big Decision

With short payment, interest rate goes high, credit problem.

Create negative environment, thousands of hours of distraction.

Altogether phenomenal effect on life by TV.

Exercise; better mood, better relationship, better rest of the day, better work, happier time, relax, next day better, better chances for promotion.

When you connect 2nd, 3rd, 4th order of consequences of single activity, you will recognize the devastating consequences.

This compound results in both positive and negative way.

Poor people lifestyle; job, relationship etc. Fun and negative in the long-run.

Instant gratification; short-term superficial pleasure at the cost of long-term fulfillment.

Rich people lifestyle; job satisfaction, relationship etc. Boring and positive in the long-run.

Delayed gratification; short-term sacrifice of superficial pleasure at the reward of long-term fulfillment.
